Well, apparently it doesn’t do that automatically, taking advantage of only one of your cores… unless you specifically set it to use that extra power… and even then, it is only used for ZOOM, REGENERATING or REDRAWING…!Ī bit disappointing I have to say. Click OK and all the contents from File A are inserted converted correctly in your desired units.Įver wondered if autoCAD is actually making use of your multiple Processor cores?.Under Scale, make sure you un-tick Specify On-screen, and under Block Unit the correct unit for File A should appear automatically.Type INSERT, click Browse and chose the File A.Start a new drawing in your desired unit.

(Don’t underestimate this step, over the years I’ve come across MANY files that were set incorrectly.) If it isn’t, just chose the correct one and confirm by clicking OK. Do this by measuring something with the DIST command or looking at an actual dimension element.

In my case I was given a file in inches, and I usually work in meters, but this should work for all types of conversion. You were given a DWG AutoCAD file in a different unit than you usually work in, and you need to convert it (entirely) into your common unit.
